The field of ethnogeriatrics refers to: Health care for older adults from diverse ethnic backgrounds. It is the intersection of the studies of aging, ethnicity, and health. Ethnocentrism is the belief or attitude that one’s own cultural view is the only correct view. The purpose of this discussion is to begin to learn more about a selected ethnic group and apply that understanding to nurture and promote culturally appropriate nursing care.

For your selected group, describe common traditional beliefs, identify patterns of health risk, explore strategies for health promotion, and identify any gaps in the healthcare information available for the geriatric population. Discuss how you would incorporate this information to provide culturally appropriate nursing care.
