Discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the KSAs (knowledge, skills and abilities) and other details listed in the job ad.
Job Descriptions and ads are essential to recruitment. As you know, job boards like Indeed have taken the recruitment industry by storm. It is not the only way to recruit people, but it is one of the most common ways. We know job seekers are on these websites daily looking for jobs, so businesses need to be there sourcing candidates for open positions.
Because this will be one of the significant ways you recruit candidates, this makes the Job Description and Advertisement important. An effective job ad can help to attract suitable candidates and help create a more strategic and efficient recruitment process. The start of the strategic process of a recruitment philosophy is job analysis and design. Next, is the job description. In this assignment, it is your job to put your recruiter hat on and determine if the Job Advertisements you chose are effective. See the details below.
There are two parts to this assignment:
Summarize the knowledge, skills and abilities of the Job Ad and if it is clear and consistent with the position and the company. Discuss what you would change, if anything. Discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the KSAs (knowledge, skills and abilities) and other details listed in the job ad.
Analyze the effectiveness of the Job Advertisement. Will it attract the ideal candidate? Is it strategic? Is it effective? What would you change and why? Is it formatted well? Does it need more detail? Etc.
Your job is to research three job postings for Administrative Assistants. Some popular online employment websites include Indeed, Monster and Workopolis. Summarize this position’s knowledge, skills, and standard functions and responsibilities, in your own words. Evaluate the effectiveness of the detail, clarity, and descriptiveness. Ask yourself, is this Job Ad going to do what it should and attract the right candidates?
Focus on the essence of this job description and if this is going to achieve the goal of finding the ideal candidate. Based on what you see, how would you summarize this job ad? You can also analyze and compare it to what you learned in class. Is it effective? Will it source the right candidates? Does it need more detail? Etc.
Include as much detail, explanation and synthesis of your thoughts on this job ad with what you have researched and learned in the course. Make sure to fully explain your ideas.
Please note: do not copy and paste the job ad or pieces of the job ad into your assignment. Summarize the job ad in your own words. Please provide the links to the specific job postings you have selected.
