Write a paper  comparing two European countries, identify similarities and differences, and provide explanations for why the countries have handled migration and integration policies the way they have done.
For this examination you are comparing two European countries, identify similarities and differences,
and provide explanations for why the countries have handled migration and integration policies the way they have done.
Countries I selected are Spain and Greece.
The examination should be a small essay with the following components:

A. For each country, describe the overall developments of the migration and integration
policies. This part must be based on the textbook by Geddes and Scholten. Other course
literature can also be used. Non course literature cannot be used in part A. Each country
desсrіption should be about 750 words. Only use this artile (Geddes, A. & Scholten, P. (2016), The politics of migration and immigration in Europe, London: Sage [2nd edition]

B. The Geddes and Scholten textbook is quite old and a lot of developments have happened
since 2016 when the book was released. For the second part of the examination you have to
find your own academic literature and describe, for each country, what has happened since
2016. News articles, reports, and websites on Internet can be used. However, some
academic sources must be used (journal articles, books, book chapters). Each country
desсrіption should be about 500 words. (Make sure to use only academic literature within your answer and order articles within your answer)

C. Identify the main similarities and differences between the two countries (migration,
migration policy, integration policy). In total the comparison should be 500 words. (Make used of only academic literature and other articles too)

D. Use the theories presented in the lecture ‘migration policies’ to explain why the countries
have chosen similar or different responses when it comes to migration and integration
policies. The explanation should be 500 words. (the theories could be found in this literature: Hampshire, J. (2013). The Politics of Immigration, Cambridge: Polity, chapter 6-7 and the theories are 1. Representative democracy
2. Nationhood
3. Constitutionalism
4. Capitalism

In total 3500 words.

Each section and total word count +-10%.
Written submissions will be assessed as an academic text and therefore it is important that the
answers are structured accordingly, the referencing style is correct, and the answers are proofread.
How you do in text references and literature list will influence the assessment of your text.
Use your own words when you answer the questions. The ability to do your own summaries and
conclusions from the literature will be part of how your answers are graded.
